Manufacturing improvements - engineering solutions to reduce operator errors

Problem: Systems were failing Quality control due to the fact that the operators were required to select the appropriate collection of logos and labels to be affixed to systems moving through the manufacturing process.

Label distribution system for high volume PC operation

Solution: Developed the hardware and software to utilize the system bar code to properly print and distribute the labels required for the system. The system takes rolls of labels and logos that need to be attached to the system during the manufacturing process. The device advances the correct label/logo based on the information contained in the configuration record stored on the central server. The system eliminated all quality failures due to mislabeling.

Problem: Systems were failing automated test because switches on the motherboard were incorrectly set.

Solution: Developed a simple switch setting device that allowed the operator to set all switches correctly based on the "ID" printed on the assembly traveler and imprinted on the device. The device reduced operator induced errors by 78%.
