Hired by the President of the company to establish an engineering department (Hardware, Software, Manufacturing and Quality)
Responsible for a $3,000,000.00 annual budget to develop products and together with the Vice President of Business Development, find markets for these products
Established the manufacturing and test processes for high volume production of the developed products
Managed the supply chain, manufacturing and quality relationships with Asian sources
IDR representative responsible for interfacing with Intel on the development of the 82786 Graphics Co-processor, the 83598 digital / analog frame grabber processor and the development of the next generation Intel Graphics processor specifications
Developed products included:
A 386 workstation cited by PC Week as one of the “ground breakers” for small footprint technology
A video image processing board that provided the integration of digital text, moving and still pictures with a 16.7 million color palette on a single EGA video screen
A diagnostic processor board to monitor and analyze the AT bus
A collection of other products, that when combined with the above, formed the basis of Row-Grabber a proprietary hypertext networking system that used broadband video cable to distribute large amounts of data in a cost effective manner. The project required the development of a two way broadband cable modem, an NTSC video distribution board, a cache memory controller board and a plug in PC terminal board using custom PGAs to communicate on the cable system.
